Shkodran Mustafi sends message to Calum Chambers amid Dayot Upamecano transfer links

Calum Chambers is not likely to play for Arsenal again this season.

The Center-back was taken off after just 23 minutes of the 2-1 loss against Chelsea last week with Arsenal since confirming that the defender will be out of action for up to nine months having ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The news comes as a big blow to new head coach Mikel Arteta, with the 24-year-old establishing himself as one of the first-choice defenders at the Emirates Stadium this season.

Arsenal confirmed that Chambers underwent surgery on the injury on Thursday morning, with the rehabilitation process expected to take "six to nine months."

Following the news, messages of support have come in from fans. Teammate Shkodran Mustafi has also taken to social media to send his support to Chambers.

Posting on his Instagram stories, the German international wrote: "Get well soon bro," along with a picture of Chambers and himself.

Mustafi has found game time in the Premier League hard to come by this season, making just three appearances. The 27-year-old was the replacement for Chambers when he had to go off vs Chelsea.

The center-back may now see more chances to get on the pitch due to Chambers' injury, although Arsenal are on the lookout for a new central defender during the January window, with Dayot Upamecano among the names linked with a move.

Chambers will be hoping to make a recovery in time for the start of the 2020/21 season.
