Shkodran Mustafi's cutting response makes clear thoughts on Jamie Vardy clash

Shkodran Mustafi has mocked VAR after his clash with Jamie Vardy that saw the Leicester man remain on the pitch.

The Arsenal defender was kicked in the face by the forward but it went unpunished by referee Graham Kavangh.

VAR also chose not to review the incident which has bought about a sarcastic reaction from Mustafi.

He responded on social media to a picture of his injuries with: "VAR still checking".

Vardy's lack of punishment was then compounded when he scored the equaliser with six minutes to go.

It meant the Foxes left north London with a point and remained in fourth place, four points ahead of Manchester United having played a game more.

Vardy may have escaped a VAR review, but Arsenal's Eddie Nketiah was not so lucky.

The youngster was sent-off in the second-half following a challenge on James Justin.

Kavangh also referred to the pitchside monitor and dismissed Nketiah just four minutes after he'd come on as a sub.

But Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was not impressed with the decision and believed Vardy should also have been given his marching orders.

He said: "The red card, he [Eddie] cannot see the player and didn't want to hurt anybody. You have to understand he is a young kid.

"It can be a red card but Leicester have to play for 10 men after 42 minutes. For one challenge between the 40 and 45 minutes.

"If we review incidents of that type we review them all. It has to be something equal for everybody because it changes the game for everybody. If Eddie is a red card for sure the other is a red card."
