Shkodran Mustafi's agent issues strong response to reports linking Arsenal defender with AS Roma

The agent of Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has denied his client is on the verge of leaving the club.

Speculation had began to increase over the past couple of days that Mustafi, who was booed by a section of Arsenal supporters when he entered the field of play during their 2-1 pre-season defeat by Lyon on Sunday afternoon, was set to sign for Roma.

The 27-year-old endured a difficult campaign last season, but despite looking as though he would be on his way out in the current window, his agent has now hit back at the speculation linking the German international with a move to Italy.

"There's nothing in it', he told Roma News.

"There has been no contact with Roma or any other Italian club."

The Gunners, according to French publication L'Equipe, are believed to have received an enquiry from Monaco for the centre-back this week.

But with want a way club captain Laurent Koscielny reportedly back in talks with Rennes over a possible move this summer, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners would be willing sell Mustafi, with Unai Emery already having a lack of options at the back.
