Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi plans to see out the final six months of his contract at the club.
The Germany international's deal with The Gunners runs out at the end of June and there had been talk his contract would be terminated this month.
The 28-year-old hasn't played for Arsenal since Boxing Day and clubs in Germany and Italy have been linked with a move for him before next Monday's transfer deadline.
However, talk of a January exit for the player appears premature, with Mustafi's father telling football.london : "We have a contract with Arsenal until 30th June 2021.
"There are no plans to terminate his contract right now."
Arsenal have been busy in the transfer window this month and let two players leave before the end of their contract.
Mustafi's German international teammate Mesut Ozil ended a near eight-year stay in north London last week when he completed a move to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce.
Defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos also said his goodbyes, with the Greek centre-back returning to his homeland and signing for Olympiakos.
Mustafi's immediate future remains unclear though as he was left out of the Arsenal squad for Saturday's FA Cup defeat at Southampton.
Boss Arteta instead preferred to name two goalkeepers on the substitutes' bench.
Mustafi is effectively sixth choice in the centre-back pecking order with Gabriel, David Luiz, Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers all ahead of him.
Arsenal are back in action on Tuesday night - again against Southampton - in the Premier League.
