Shkodran Mustafi is joining forces with The Arsenal Foundation to provide over 16,000 meals and other essential items across Islington.
The German - who celebrates his 28th birthday today [April 17], has seen a rapid improvement in his relationship with the Arsenal fanbase over the past few months and this will without doubt tighten that bond.
"I just want to say thank you for all of your birthday messages. I have been reading them and I am really happy about every single one," he said on his official Instagram account.
"Normally for my birthday, I would spend the day with my family and friends all together to celebrate. But for obvious reasons, this is currently not possible. But I know that there are people in Islington who are really struggling at the moment and I want to show my support to the community and to our Arsenal family for my birthday this year.
"I have seen the work the Islington Council and The Arsenal Foundation are doing - and I want to join in and help by donating a delivery of over 16,000 meals and other emergency supplies to the people in Islington who need our support now more than ever.
"Thanks again for all of your messages guys. Please stay safe, stay positive as much as you can and hopefully we will be able to be together again in Emirates Stadium soon."
Of course, this isn't the first action The Arsenal Foundation are taking to combat the coronavirus pandemic as last week, they aligned themselves with the HIS Church charity.
This partnership with the charity and Arsenal in the Community saw the Gunners help provide 30,000 free meals as well as essential items such as sanitary and personal hygiene products to those in need around their local community.
Alongside this, the foundation made a pledge of £100,000 to local organisations with a further £50,000 acting as partnership funding with Islington Giving towards their COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
“We are very proud to be able to support the people of Islington during this challenging time," Arsenal in the Community's head, Alan Sefton MBE, said last week.
"Islington Council have set up an extremely well-coordinated response and it is essential that we play our part in supporting that.
"This aligned community response is the result of a lot of hard work and collaboration with a number of local organisations. By working together with Islington Council and others, we hope we can continue to identify and support those in our local community who most need our support."
