Shivam Dube must be in India's T20 World Cup squad: Stephen Fleming

MUMBAI: The amount of sheer power that Shivam Dube generates while executing his shots is a good enough reason why India's selectors must pick the big-hitting Mumbaikar for the upcoming T20 World Cup, feels Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming.

"I love his power. I'm biased, aren't I? But I think when you have a bit different power like that, I would have him in the side," Fleming told reporters on Saturday.

This IPL, Dube's sequence of scores read: 34 not out (28 balls), 51 (23), 18 (17), 45 (24) & 28 (18). "I haven't seen a guy hit it harder (and) consistently hit it harder. Some of the power he can generate both from spin and seam bowling is quite unique," the CSK head coach said.

Fleming felt that India needed to define their gameplan for the T20 World Cup, and then pick the players to fit those roles accordingly.

Fleming showered praise on CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, saying he is cut from the same cloth as MS Dhoni and it is unfair to term the opener's batting as "slow".

Every batter thinks off-spinner is there to be hit, says Nabi

In the two games that he's got to play in for MI this IPL, all Mohammad Nabi has got to bowl in is three overs.

Nabi put it down to the fact that the T20 format was extremely tough on off-spinners.

"Every batsman thinks that an off-spinner is there to hit. As a batsman, even I think so when I face an off-spinner. I think there is chance for two sixes. If the conditions are bad, not much would be in my hands. In that case, I attack the batsman, try to take the wicket. To survive, I try yorkers, wide yorkers, or bowl slow. I try my best to survive those six balls," Nabi said.
