Shirley Ballas makes 'dig' at Neil Jones as she breaks down praising Catherine Tyldesley

Shirley Ballas appeared to be making a dig at one of the Strictly Come Dancing professionals in Saturday night's show.

Catherine Tyldesley and her partner Johannes Radebe were dancing the rumba to Shallow from A Star is Born, made famous by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

The judge was full of praise for their graceful dance, and even broke down into tears as she listed the things she liked about it.

But viewers were convinced there was a hidden jibe at Neil Jones and his partner Alex Scott, who had done the same dance the week before.

Shilrey "I'm actually a little bit overwhelmed because normally rumbas, at this time of the year on week three, they make me cringe.

"But that was absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word.

"You know what Johannes I want to say congratulations to you because simplicity works.

"You used all the simple steps and you executed them well. I'm gonna get all emotional."

Viewers took to Twitter to point out the comment.

One tweeted: "Shirley just said that most rumbas are cringe at week 3 just after Alex's...Bit rude. I think she needs to think before she speaks."

"Shirley just basically said Alex’s rumba was cringe," another posted.

A third wrote: "That’s a bit of a slap in the face to Alex there Shirley."

"Shirley clearly throwing shade at Alex there..." another said.

A fifth agreed: "Ouch Shirley that was a bit low."
