Ship belonging to Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis 'rescues 150 migrants'

A ship belonging to Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is said to have rescued more than 150 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea.

It is reported that a crude oil tanker owned by Marinakis - Aristofanis - was headed to Egypt from Italy on Friday.

According to MailOnline, alarm bells rang after spotting a 15-metre wooden boat drifting in the south of the Greek Peloponnese peninsula.

The native coastal guard launched a rescue mission as they helped the migrants aboard the Capital Ship Management tanker.

According to Alarm Phone, a support line for people crossing into the EU, they were at sea for four days.

A pregnant woman who was amongst the migrants reportedly fell in the sea during the rescue.

Navy and Air Force helicopters were deployed to find the woman but she could not be found.

Aristofanis headed for Palaiochora in Crete as they returned the migrants to dry land, before setting off for Egypt.

Greek businessman Marinakis has been Forest's majority shareholder since taking over the club in 2017.

He is also the owner of Olympiacos, taking over in 2010 before overseeing a run of seven league titles in a row.
