'Shine bright wee man' Tributes paid after body found in search for Derek Beattie

Tributes have been paid after a body was pulled from the River Clyde in the search for missing Derek Beattie.

A police search was launched after Derek disappeared from the Harthill area on Saturday, November 27.

Specialist water searches were carried out in the River Clyde after he was last seen leaving Gracie’s Bar in Glasgow.

Cops confirmed a body had tragically been discovered in the river at around 2:55pm on Tuesday, December 21.

While formal identification is yet to take place, his family has been informed.

Pals and loved ones have now taken to social media to share heartbreaking tributes to Derek.

One friend wrote: "So so sad! RIP Derek. #GoneTooSoon #SchoolFriend. Been thinking of the family for weeks, hope now they can get some closure and give Derek the send-off he deserves."

"Sad news RIP Derek. Shine bright wee man", wrote Sally Hallford.

Stephanie Wilson added: "Rest easy Beattie, you're going to be missed by the whole of Harthill."

Jamie Mcgrath wrote: "Will be missed mate."

In an emotional post, Gemma Deegan said: "I'm going to miss u for the rest of my life, it's not goodbye it's just see you later."
