Shielded people can go outside from today for exercise and to meet one other household

Shielded people can now go outside from today as Scotland enters into phase two of lockdown Nicola Sturgeon has announced.

The change means that people who have been stuck indoors for months due to being considered vulnerable will now be able to leave the house and even meet someone outside.

From today onwards shielded people will now be able to go outside for exercise, play golf and even meet one other household unless they are in they live in a nursing home or residential care.

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed the major change for those shielding saying that "from today, anyone who is shielding unless you live in a nursing or residential care home" can go ahead with outdoor exercise.

Additionally, from tomorrow, shielding people can also take part in non-contact outdoor activities such as golf.

People who are shielding can also meet outdoors with one other household although they should "continue to be cautious" and not meet "more than eight people"

Shielders meeting up with another household should stay at least two metres away from other people at all times and must not go enter anyone house - even to use the toilet.
