
The streets of Tokyo's Shibuya district, normally crowded with young people, were even emptier on Sunday than they had been a week before.
The weekend of April 4-5 was the second in a row on which the Tokyo city government had asked people to refrain from going out.
Many department stores and other commercial facilities were closed, and busy street areas such as Shibuya Center-Gai were quiet. Only a few people crossed the scramble intersection in front of Shibuya Station, and the voice of Tokyo Gov. Yuriko Koike sounded loudly from a large monitor, calling for people to take steps to prevent the spread of the virus.
