Sheyi Ojo agrees Rangers loan as Ryan Kent awaits Liverpool decision

Liverpool have agreed to send Sheyi Ojo on-loan to Rangers - but no decision has been made on Ryan Kent’s future yet.

The Anfield club have given left winger Ojo the green light to move to Scotland.

The 21-year-old is expected to join up with Steven Gerrard’s squad when they return for pre-season training next week.

Ojo, an England under-21 cap, has previously had loans at Fulham, Wolves, Wigan and last year he was at French side Reims.

Sending Kent on-loan to Rangers was a major success last season and it is an avenue that Jurgen Klopp wants to continue to use for the development of his young players under Anfield legend Gerrard.

Midfielder Ovie Ejaria was also on loan from last season but he returned earlier because he struggled to settle in Scotland.

Winger Kent, however, was a major hit and was even named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.

Rangers are keen to take the Englishman back on loan next season.

They have held talks with Liverpool and are waiting for the Champions League winners to decide what they are going to do with Kent.

Leeds United are keen to take him to the Championship and Premiership new boys Aston Villa are also interested.

It depends if Liverpool decide they want to sell the player or put him back out on loan.

Sources at Liverpool and Rangers are adamant that a deal between both clubs can still be struck.

While other sources close to the player are adamant: “Nothing has changed or been decided.”

If they decide to sell then Aston Villa would be in the box seat, but Leeds would also be keen on a loan and would be able to cover more of his wages.

Gerrard is also hoping to add other new faces before they return.

Oldham defender George Edmundson remains an option but there is no movement there and the Ibrox side are refusing to budge on their last bid of £500,000 plus add-ons that was rejected.

The defender is keen to make the move to Ibrox but his club are playing hardball.

Rangers are also in talks with Charlton midfielder Joe Aribo, who has also been offered to Celtic.
