Regularly considered to be one of the happiest places to live in the UK, it seems that the rest of the world is also beginning to take notice of Shetland.
A top travel magazine has just named the islands as one of its top travel destinations for 2021.
The islands were included in a list with places such as Mexico, Vietnam, the Dominican Republic and the up and coming Slovenia.
Speaking about Shetland, Conde Nast said: "The rich soil and pristine sea ensure a cornucopia of natural ingredients, drawing chefs and curious foodies to these remote, sea-battered shores."
Described as a "foodie hotspot", the island's produce is highlighted while local restaurant The Dowry was cited at the place to go for fluffy bannocks and Reestit mutton soup as well as pickled herring, plump scallops and "tennis-ball-sized Scotch eggs".
While the 40th Shetland Folk Festival and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s beefed-up Shorewatch scheme are also named as part of the draw for visiting the islands next year.
