Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust confirms more coronavirus deaths in Nottinghamshire

Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust has announced more deaths of coronavirus patients who were being treated.

A total of 23 patients diagnosed with coronavirus being treated by the trust have now died.

The Trust runs King's Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital.

Nine deaths of Covid-19 patients were announced on Thursday, April 2.

Richard Mitchell, Chief Executive at Sherwood Forest Hospitals said: "Sherwood Forest Hospitals is currently treating patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 (coronavirus).

"Sadly, we can confirm that 23 patients being cared for at our hospitals, and had tested positive for Covid-19, have died.  Nine of those have been announced on Thursday, April 2.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."

In Nottingham, two more patients who tested positive for coronavirus have died.

Nottingham University Hospitals Trust, which runs Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital, confirmed that 31 patients diagnosed with the disease have died in the city's hospitals.

It comes as 2,921 people were confirmed to have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Wednesday, April 1.

This is up by 569 from 2,352 the day before and is the biggest day-on-day increase so far, just above the 563 reported the day before.
