Sherwood cafe re-opens after thieves force closure

Thieves got away with cash and alcohol during a break-in at a Sherwood cafe over the weekend.

Cchinos, in Mansfield Road, was targeted late on Saturday night. Raiders, with hoodies covering their faces, forced the back door.

They escaped with £400 cash and £200 worth of spirits, captured by the cafe's CCTV.

Owner Oruc Coban, who goes by the nickname Ozzie, took over the business around seven months ago.

The cafe was closed yesterday while the police investigated but it has re-opened today (Monday, February 24).

Mr Coban said: "It's made me feel uncomfortable in my own place now this has happened. They left a lot of fingerprints. It seems they knew exactly what they were after."

However, he said he was heartened by the support he'd received from customers and locals. "I've had phone calls and messages saying how sorry they are. Someone said they would nip down and support the business when back to normal which is nice."

Notts Police are investigating the break-in which happened at 11.25pm on Saturday.

The burglary comes three months after the Bakehouse, a cafe on the opposite side of the road, was broken into.
