Sheriff orders "nuisance" to stay away from Wishaw after admitting charges

A sheriff agreed this week to free a “nuisance” but warned him to stay away from Wishaw.

Andrew Slowey, 19, appeared from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court after admitting a string of charges.

These included three counts of threatening or abusive behaviour, one of which involved racial prejudice.

Slowey, of Airth Court, Motherwell, also admitted carrying a knife, assaulting a police officer, failing to attend court and breaching bail conditions.

His lawyer, Matthew McGovern, said Slowey had returned to Motherwell after a period when he didn’t have a settled address.

Mr McGovern added: “He could be described as a nuisance.

“Unfortunately he’s been spending his money on drugs.”

Sheriff Allan McKay deferred sentence until October 22 for a criminal justice social work report and an electronic tagging assessment. Slowey was again given bail, but banned from entering Wishaw.
