Sheridan Smith takes cheeky swipe at Victoria Beckham in her new BBC show

Sheridan Smith couldn't help but take a cheeky swipe at Victoria Beckham during her presenting debut.

The Gavin & Stacey star, 39, has landed her very own show on BBC One alongside her pup Stanley - a dog grooming contest dubbed Pooch Perfect.

As the actress introduced her dog Stanley in the second instalment of the show, it wasn't long before her jibe at Posh.

“He’s the Jay Z to my Beyonce, the Harry to my Meghan and the Becks to my Posh," she said.

Stanley then barked in protest, which prompted Sheridan to add: “No, you’re Becks, I’m Posh. You couldn’t be Posh the way you eat.”

The Two Pints of Lager star - who owns six dogs - went on to gush over her pooch as she explained her love for dogs: “They are so loyal – better than men, aren’t they?

“I shouldn’t say that – my fella’s probably listening.”

In the show, professional dog groomers battle it out to become the UK’s top canine stylist.

Sheridan recently admitted that becoming a mum has given her the confidence to take on her first presenting role.

The actress, who is mum to eight- month-old Billy, could not have scripted how perfect her first foray into hosting would be, however.

She told The Mirror: “I wouldn’t have had the nerve to do this if Billy wasn’t born."

She added: “I was very nervous when they came to me with the idea as there are so many presenters out there, but I am a massive dog lover and it seemed the perfect fit.

“What’s great is we could go to work together as a family,” she says – referring to young Billy and her fiancé Jamie Horn.

“Billy was in the green room with his dad doing daddy care so I could see him in between filming to play,” she says.
