Sheridan Smith sparks romance rumours with new man a month after split from fiancé

Actress Sheridan Smith has sent fans gushing over potential new love interest Alex Lawler.

She has shared multiple Instagram posts with her fellow actor and friend of 20 years with her 666k followers.

Sheridan, 40, split from her fiancé Jamie Horn, 31, who is also the father of her son, Billy, last month.

And although there's no suggestion that Sheridan and Alex are anything more than friends, it seems her fans are keen for them to get together.

She captioned a video of her and Alex in a car with: “He doesn’t need a filter (unlike me) I love you Alex Lawler.”

One fan commented: “One day hubby xxx”

"Is this your new man?" another asked, adding fire to the flames.

Jamie and Sheridan split in July just over a year after Sheridan gave birth to their first child in May 2020.

The Cilla actress met insurance broker Jamie, 31, on the dating app Tinder in 2018 and they got engaged soon after.

In a joint statement to The Sun on Sunday, the couple said: “It is with great sadness that we have decided to have some time apart.

“We both remain completely committed to raising our beautiful boy Billy together. We ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”

In late July, Sheridan was spotted wearing her £100,000 engagement ring on her Instagram Stories.

As a fan of the dating show, she said to her fans: “Waiting for Love Island...don’t judge me!” as her tattooed left hand was clearly in shot.

The former couple were in an ITV documentary called Sheridan Smith: Becoming Mum which followed the star’s pregnancy journey last year.

Sheridan has won multiple awards and been in countless shows from Mrs Biggs, Gavin and Stacey, The Royle Family, Benidorm and Jonathan Creek as well as starring on the West End.

She stars in the new Railway Children film due for release next year and more recently presented Pooch Perfect on BBC One.

The Mirror has reached out to Sheridan’s agent for comment.
