Sheridan Smith 'devastated' as she reveals link to Paul Cattermole after S Club star's death

Sheridan Smith has been left devastated by the death of S Club 7 star Paul Cattermole, with the actress revealing that she and the singer had a connection dating back many years.

On Friday afternoon, the heartbreaking news broke that Paul had been found dead at his home, with S Club 7 releasing a statement which read: "We are truly devastated by the passing of our brother Paul. There are no words to describe the deep sadness and loss we all feel. We were so lucky to have had him in our lives and are thankful for the amazing memories we have."

They added: "He will be so deeply missed by each and every one of us. We ask that you respect the privacy of his family and of the band at this time."

Paul's family also spoke out on his death, saying: "It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son and brother Paul Cattermole.

"Paul was found yesterday, 6th April 2023 at his home in Dorset and was pronounced dead later that afternoon. While the cause of death is currently unknown, Dorset Police has confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances."

Paul's death, weeks after tickets went on sale for S Club 7's reunion tour, prompted a wave of tributes from people in the entertainment industry. And among them was Cilla and No Return star Sheridan, who revealed that she and the singer went way back.

Sheridan told fans she was "devastated beyond words," as she revealed that she and Paul 'grew up together' in the National Youth Music Theatre, living together for years.

She added: "He was an amazing man and my heart breaks for his friends, family and loved ones. Thinking of Han & Neil and his band mates too. Too young. Feel sick"
