Sheridan Smith cancels gig last-minute as she sparks fears about Joseph shows

Sheridan Smith was forced to cancel a gig yesterday after falling ill with laryngitis.

The singer, 38, released a statement to Instagram on Sunday apologising to her fans at Car Fest as she revealed she'd been put on vocal rest.

She also sparked fears that she wouldn't be able to make her performances in Joseph in the West End.

Sheridan said: "So I've lost my voice due to laryngitis and not sure when it will be back. So sorry to Car Fest where I am meant to be gigging today and just hope it comes back so I can finish Joseph.

"On vocal rest for now till it gets better. So sorry guys."

The actress was inundated with messages of support from her followers and she thanked them for all their kind words.

She added: "Wow thank you for your support, you guys are the only reason I do what I do. I love you all, your messages are getting me emotional.

"I am grateful to all of you for keeping me going Xx"

Mirror Online has contacted Sheridan's reps for comment.

She is currently starring in Joseph alongside Jason Donovan and Jac Yarrow at the London Palladium.

In 2016 Sheridan pulled out of Funny Girl for a two-month break when her late dad Colin was ill.

She had missed several performances and one show had to be cancelled 15 minutes in.

This year she cancelled her seven-date singing tour after struggling to cope with the heavy workload.

Sheridan previously admitted she suffered from stress and anxiety as she struggled with her fame .

She said: "I couldn't really cope with all the expectations on me. I felt stressed and anxious all the time.

"I was supposed to be a celebrity but I couldn’t do it right. I’d be told by publicists how to behave and I'd forget and just say exactly what I thought. I drank pints and made rude jokes and was brilliant at saying the wrong thing."
