Shenmue 3 is free on the Epic Games Store this week

The seasonal mystery is finally over: Shenmue III is this week’s freebie on the Epic Games Store.

Shenmue III is a curious one to give away. The series garnered a cult following back on SEGA’s Dreamcast console, but as anyone rightly knows by now, that console was a total failure, so Shenmue languished in obscurity for two decades.

Then, series creator Yu Suzuki announced the third game out of nowhere. Shenmue III came out back in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC to fairly positive reviews. It’s sitting at 69 on Metacritic, which isn’t amazing, but given how it’s so tailor-made to a niche audience, that’s not bad.
