Sheltered accommodation residents evacuated due to fire in Leeds

Four crews from West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service extinguished a blaze at sheltered accommodation at Harehills Place, Harehills in Leeds.

Residents were evacuated to safety after a fire broke out at the ground floor communal area of St Augustine's Court, Harehills Place.

Two fire engines from Killingbeck and two from Leeds attended and firefighters used three hose reel jets, six breathing apparatus and a high powered fan to tackle the fire.

One casualty was led to safety by firefighters and checked over by Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

The fire which was reported at 10.57pm on Saturday August 8 has since been put out.

The source of the fire is still being investigated.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service tweeted at 2.30am Sunday: "Incident: Domestic Fire – Leeds Area."
