Shelley Meyer says she's leaving Twitter over comments after Urban Meyer bar video

Shelley Meyer has apparently had enough of the critics of her husband, beleaguered Jacksonville Jaguars coach Urban Meyer.

Shelley Meyer announced on Twitter that she is leaving the platform after the past week of widespread criticism of her husband. Urban Meyer was seen on video at his steakhouse in Columbus, Ohio, receiving a dance from a young woman and appearing to touch the woman's backside after the Jaguars' loss Sept. 30 in Cincinnati.

"This will be my last post on Twitter," the shared message states. "Frankly I don't need the hate, vitriol, slander, trash that will @ me (this has never stopped anyway."

"We all make mistakes — we are all sinners. If you think you aren't? Then cast the first stone," she continues.

After the initial Urban Meyer video went viral, people also noticed what Shelley Meyer was tweeting about. She had tweeted pictures of baby-sitting her grandchildren, including the hashtags "My Choice" and "Buddy Deserved A Night Out," the night Urban Meyer was at the restaurant.

She also tweeted out a photo of corn that caught a lot of people's attention as the Urban Meyer video caught fire online.

She also liked messages of support for her as the video footage spread, including two that said "Urban Meyer doesn't deserve Shelley" and "Shelley you deserve better than him."

Shelley Meyer, a registered nurse, has a history of retweeting COVID denial and anti-vaccine messages

Shelley Meyer is a certified nurse who had a teaching position at Ohio State. Shelley Meyer has about 52,000 followers on her Twitter account, which mostly details in flamingoes, support for the Jaguars and Ohio State football, as well as general Florida life.

She also has a noted history of making COVID denial and anti-mask post and retweeting anti-vaccine posts.

Shelley Meyer is not totally gone from social media. Her Instagram page remains active, though it contains just two posts since it was created in August.
