Justin Bieber has been taken off formal probation after being found guilty of vandalism in 2014 for throwing eggs at a neighbour’s house. The Canadian star remains on probation until next July but will no longer be supervised directly by a probation officer.
On Monday 2 November, US judge Andrea Thompson changed the status of his probation to informal after receiving positive reports regarding his two year probation sentence, according to court documents. Bieber performed 40 hours maintenance and janitorial work at a family homeless shelter, but did not attend the hearing. As well as his community service he attended 12 sessions of anger management counselling and paid his former neighbour the required sum of $80,900 (£52, 421).
In July 2014, the pop star pleaded no contest to misdemeanour vandalism after he thew eggs at a former neighbour’s home in Calabasas, California.
The egg pelting incident took place during a period of run-ins with the law last year. In the past few months, however, the star has enjoyed success with the No 1 singles Where Are Ü Now and What Do You Mean. Last week, however, the pop singer abruptly canceled his concert in Oslo on Thursday night after performing just one song. “Sadly it’s been a rough week for me, long days, no sleep, while having to be ‘on’ as they would say for cameras fans etc,” he posted on Instagram.
