Shelbourne's Noelle Murray scores Gascoigne-esque wondergoal in FAI Cup semi-final

Shelbourne star Noelle Murray has a knack for scoring special goals and her latest outrageous effort brought back memories of a Paul Gascoigne solo stunner at Euro 96.

Murray's strike was enough to give Shelbourne a 1-0 win over Galway United at Tolka Park as the Reds booked their place in the FAI Cup final.

The 31-year-old flicked the ball over the heads of two opponents as she entered the penalty area, before coolly slotting past Leah Hayes Coen in the Galway goal.

Fans on social media reckoned the goal resembled a famous effort by 'Gazza' against Scotland at Euro 96 - which continues to make highlight reels to this day.

Murray's goal came on the half-hour mark and Shelbourne held out to advance to the decider against Wexford Youths - which will be played at Tallaght Stadium and shown live on RTE on November 21.

This marks the third meeting between these two teams in the final. Wexford won a penalty shoot-out in 2015 before Shelbourne avenged that defeat a year later with a 5-0 win.

Wexford booked their place in the final by seeing off holders Peamount United with a 3-1 extra-time victory.
