Shelbourne promote teenager Alex Cetiner to senior squad on two-year deal

Shelbourne have promoted teenager Alex Cetiner to the senior squad on a two-year deal.

The winger, 18, has progressed through the ranks from the academy and Shels boss Ian Morris reckons he will excite the fans.

Cetiner, who scored in a 4-0 friendly win over UCD last Friday, said: “I joined the academy when I was 15 and felt welcome from day one.

“The coaches and staff have helped me improve from the start until this moment. Ian has helped me improve myself on the pitch and off the pitch.”

Morris, who is busy preparing for the home league game against Waterford on August 1, said: “Alex will excite our fans - he’s quick, has a trick and can score goals.

“He has come the whole way through our underage system, from our DDSL sides, into our LOI underage set up, now into our first team.

“We have a good group of players to keep him grounded in the dressing room. There is a fantastic leadership group here to help our young players flourish.”
