Sheffield Wednesday take ex-Bolton Wanderers striker on trial

Former Bolton Wanderers striker De'Marlio Brown-Sterling is currently on trial at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

The 19-year-old departed the Trotters over the summer.

He made four appearances in all competitions for Wanderers last season under then-boss Keith Hill, with his debut coming in the defeat to Rochdale in the EFL Cup.

Two of the appearances came in League One.

Brown-Sterling has been without a club since leaving the Trotters over the summer.

But the Sheffield Star reports that the striker is now on trial at Garry Monk's Owls.

Brown-Sterling is currently into his second week on trial at Hillsborough and recently played for the club's under-23s in the defeat to Millwall as he bids to earn a deal with the Championship side.

The Hillsborough outfit beat Bournemouth 1-0 on Tuesday evening.

The following day, the club had a points deduction of 12 points for breaching spending rules reduced to just six.

It has meant Wednesday remain bottom of the Championship but are now only three points from safety.
