Sheffield Wednesday striker Fernando Forestieri has had his appeal against an FA charge of using racist language rejected.
The incident happened after the Owls' friendly clash with Mansfield Town in July last year, where he allegedly abused Stags defender Krystian Pierce.
Forestieri was found not guilty at Mansfield Magistrates' Court in March of using threatening words and behaviour and racially aggravated harassment but the Football Association began their own investigation and charged him with racial abuse .
The FA found him guilty and handed him a six-game ban, but his appeal has been rejected and he will now serve his suspension with immediate effect.
He will miss Wednesday's Championship matches against Huddersfield Town, Fulham, Middlesbrough, Hull City and Wigan Athletic as well as a Carabao Cup third round clash with Everton.
Forestieri has played in four of Wednesday's seven matches so far this season, starting against Queens Park Rangers in a 2-1 defeat to Mark Warburton's side last time out.
A statement from the Owls read: "Sheffield Wednesday acknowledge the decision today of the Appeal Board regarding Fernando Forestieri.
"We further acknowledge that Fernando will be unavailable for the next six first team fixtures.
"The club and the player remain extremely disappointed with the findings of the Regulatory Commission and the Appeal Board when Fernando was acquitted in relation to the same incident in a court of law earlier this year.
"Both parties will be making no further comment at this time."
