Sheffield Wednesday recall defender from Notts County loan

Sheffield Wednesday have recalled defender Ciaran Brennan from his loan spell at Notts County.

The 21-year-old joined the Magpies in September to provide cover at the back, with Kyle Cameron, Connell Rawlinson and Alex Lacey all out injured.

Brennan made five appearances for Notts - four in the National League and one in the FA Cup.

He was an unused substitute in Sunday's 1-1 draw at Rochdale in the FA Cup first round proper.

The youngster had initially been due to remain at Meadow Lane until November 27 but will now return to his parent club early.

Notts head coach Burchnall has thanked Brennan for his contribution to the team.

"Ciaran was really unfortunate to be on the wrong end of some difficult results during the early part of his loan spell," said Burchnall.

"Despite being thrown in at the deep end he put in some very strong, composed performances which highlight his huge potential.

"We'd like to thank him for his contribution and also express our gratitude to Wednesday for allowing him to come to us."

Along with Brennan, Wednesday have also recalled Josh Render and Liam Waldock from loans with Grantham Town and Gainsborough Trinity respectively.

The trio are all eligible to play for the Owls against Harrogate Town in the final group stage fixture of the Papa John’s Trophy on Tuesday evening.
