Sheffield United vs Sunderland odds: Chris Wilder's side backed to beat Black Cats

With Sunderland manager Jack Ross under pressure following the disappointing draw at Bolton, the Black Cats head to Premier League Sheffield United looking for a morale-boosting win.

We asked the ChronicleLive's Stuart Jamieson for his verdict.

Recommended bets:

Match result and both teams to score (Sheff Utd) - 5/2

Correct score – Sheffield United 2-1 Sunderland - 15/2

Win, lose or draw

Sunderland's one and only focus this season is promotion from League One, and draws against Rotherham and Bolton have seen fans become restless.

While they shocked Burnley with a win at Turf Moor in round two, you could forgive the Black Cats for having one eye on Saturday's game with MK Dons. Sunderland to lose at 4/6 .

Who's a good bet for first goalscorer?

Sunderland have goals throughout the side, but Aiden McGeady will miss the match at Bramall Lane. Charlie Wyke could get a chance up front after coming on against Bolton, and he'll be a good bet to open the scoring.

Who's on the naughty step?

Denver Hume was hooked at half-time for the second time this season at Bolton. Ross has promised to help the youngster develop, and we could see on-loan Laurens de Bock replacing him.

Who's on penalties?

Lynden Gooch. Likely to step up in McGeady's absence.

Will Sunderland keep a clean sheet?

Will they ever keep a clean sheet? It's been the bane of Ross' life and a constant issue during his tenure at Sunderland. They haven't done so in League One this season, you would have doubt they could keep the Premier League Blades out on Wednesday.

The rare phenomenon of Sunderland keeping a clean sheet is at 15/4 but are 2/13 to concede .
