Sheffield United's injury and suspension list in full ahead of crunch Easter programme

With just four games of the Championship season remaining, Leeds United's main rivals for the second automatic promotion spot are hoping for a slip-up from Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Sheffield United and Leeds have traded places in second and third several times over the past month, with the latest swing of the pendulum going the way of the Whites, after they took advantage of the Blades' slip-up at home to Millwall by beating Sheffield Wednesday and moving three points clear in second spot last weekend.

But as well as dropping the two points, Chris Wilder's side also suffered another blow when two key players limped off and a third was sent off.

With the South Yorkshire side hosting Nottingham Forest on Good Friday before they go to Hull City on Monday, here is a look at their current injury and suspension list in full.

Billy Sharp - hamstring injury

The influential Blades striker has netted 24 times this season and been one of the key performers in his side's promotion push, but he limped off in the 64th minute of the Millwall draw last Saturday.

And Wilder confirmed that the former Leeds forward will miss both of their games over the Easter weeeknd.

"Billy is out for the weekend... so that's disappointing for myself and the football club," he said in his Wednesday press conference.

It remains to be seen whether Sharp will return for the next fixture which is a home clash against Ipswich a week on Saturday.

Chris Basham - hamstring injury

The other key player to limp out of the Millwall draw was Chris Basham, who was withdrawn in the 21st minute.

Again, this is a hamstring injury and, again, he will miss both the Easter fixtures.

"I've been consistent with my approach throughout the season, people have injuries and suspensions and we have to get over it, we've got good enough to come in and replace them," Wilder said when discussing the double injury blow.

"We will continue to monitor and assess, short-term they are out, but we will see how they go from Monday onwards, with a view to Ipswich."

"The players were as disappointed as any supporter last Saturday, they care as much as anyone, including me.

"There is a lot of the line for them, individually and collectively, those boys care and they want to win.

"We've not been given anything, we've had to earn everything to get to this position and everything we've achieved has been earnt by having a go and coming roaring back to disappointments."

John Egan - suspension

Wilder's misery was compounded by the second-half sending off of John Egan on Saturday, after he handballed in the box. While the subsequent penalty was missed, the defender will have to serve a one-match ban, meaning his misses the Forest match, but will be available for the tricky trip to Hull.
