Sheffield United's Dean Henderson stance after Wes Foderingham transfer

Chris Wilder claims he still wants to re-sign Dean Henderson despite landing Wes Foderingham on a free from Rangers.

Foderingham has signed a three-year deal with Sheffield United and Wilder says his arrival does not affect his efforts to bring Henderson back to Bramall Lane.

Henderson has enjoyed two hugely-successful seasons on loan with the Blades and Wilder says talks about signing him again for a third campaign have begun.

“Dean and Manchester United know our views on that,” he said. “We’ve already started talking to the player and Manchester United, while obviously respecting it’s their decision and the boy’s decision.

“We’d love to extend that for another season and when we get the news on that decision, we’ll let you know.”

Wilder claims he will overhaul his goalkeeping department at the end of the season and felt signing Foderingham on a Bosman was too good an opportunity to miss.

Foderingham, 29, spent five years at Ibrox and Wilder said: “Wes was available and in that department there will be a couple of changes going forward, although I’m not really at a stage to discuss that.

“He became available and from our point of view, on a free transfer and a three-year deal, it’s a good bit of business.”
