Sheffield United defender John Egan will miss Sunday’s clash against Leeds United following a red card against Aston Villa.
Egan was shown a straight red card after taking down Ollie Watkins, who was running through on goal in the 12th-minute of the Blades’ 1-0 defeat to Villa.
The Irish defender has become an integral part of Chris Wilder’s team since being promoted to the Premier League ahead of the 2019-20 season.
However, the Blades will be without Egan as they welcome Leeds to Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Due to it being a “professional foul” - being the last man and tugging Watkins who had a goalscoring opportunity - the 27-year-old will face a one-match ban.
Sheffield United tend to play a 3-5-2 formation, starting with Egan, Chris Basham and Jack O’Connell in the 1-0 defeat at Villa Park.
Ethan Ampadu, who is on loan from Chelsea, came on for Wilder’s side following Egan’s dismissal - something the Blades boss could start with on Sunday.
It was the first time in the Wilder reign that his side have lost three successive league games.
Leeds will be looking for their second successive victory in the Premier League after beating Fulham 4-3 on Saturday afternoon.
