Sheffield United 'convinced they can break impasse' in pursuit of Nottingham Forest ace Matty Cash

Sheffield United are said to be “refusing to drop their interest” in Nottingham Forest ace Matty Cash.

After an impressive season which saw him crowned the Reds’ Player of the Year, there is plenty of interest in the 23-year-old this summer.

West Ham United, Southampton, Fulham and Aston Villa have all been linked, while AC Milan are believed to still be keeping a close eye on the youngster, following their interest in January.

Forest are understood to want £15m for the right-back, with ensuring they remain within FFP limits a key factor behind any decision to sell.

The Blades remain particularly keen, with boss Chris Wilder a known admirer of Cash.

It is thought the Reds would look to include Luke Freeman heading in the opposite direction, in any deal with the Premier League outfit.

And the Sheffield Star report United are prepared to dig their heels in, claiming “Wilder’s transfer negotiators remain convinced they can break the impasse” when it comes to Cash and fellow target Reading’s John Swift.

Although the top-flight and Championship seasons start next month, the transfer window is open much later this year as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

Clubs have until 11pm on October 5 to make international signings, with a two-week domestic only window running beyond that, until 5pm on October 16.
