Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder makes slip-up on Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu that Wales fans are not going to like

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has risked the wrath of Wales fans - after mistakenly referring to new loan signing Ethan Ampadu as English.

Ampadu, who is tipped for a big future for club and country, recently completed a season-long loan move to Bramall Lane from Chelsea this week.

Wilder, whose side were arguably the surprise package in the Premier League last season, is clearly delighted to have the 19-year old on board.

However, fans on this side of the border are unlikely to be too impressed by the Blades boss' latest comments.

Speaking about the move, Wilder said: "Ethan coming into the group. I think we've signed one of the outstanding English young players at the moment.

"He's so highly regarded by Chelsea and for us to capture that one and for Ethan to be a Sheffield United player this year, I think shows how far we've come as well that Chelsea are trusting us with one of their bright young stars."

Needless to say, Welsh fans didn't shy away from correcting him.

Wilder may well get a shock when he sees Ampadu running out in the red of Wales against England at Wembley on October 8.
