Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder makes admission about Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has described Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino as his favourite manager in the Premier League.

Wilder is looking forward to going head-to-head against some of the top managers and clubs in the top flight, having guided Sheffield United to automatic promotion from the Championship this season.

And he says he is relishing coming up against Pochettino at Tottenham, having been full of praise for the job he has done in north London since taking charge in 2014.

“I have got to say he is my favourite manager in the Premier League," Wilder said, speaking about Pochettino on BBC programme Football Focus.

Chris Wilder on the surprise role Spurs played in Sheffield United's rise to the Premier League

"The way he brings the guys in, I think that’s huge. The players playing week in and week out, they are the easy ones to manage.

“It is the boys on the outside you have to invest time and love in, who do step up, like Lucas Moura has, and like Vincent Kompany at Manchester City, who has not been a regular starter, but he might have won the title with his contribution, not only there with the goal he scored the other night, but at other times as well.

'I want to be honest with my club, my players and our fans' - Pochettino opens up on his future

“It is the work ethic of the team [at Tottenham], and the way his team plays, the recruitment and everything."
