Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder confirms the Blades will ring the changes against Sunderland

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has confirmed that he will make changes to his Blades side that beat Everton against Sunderland tomorrow.

The Black Cats travel to Bramall Lane looking to won through to the fourth round of the League Cup for the first time since 2016.

Jack Ross' side have already beaten Premier League opposition in the competition this season after beating Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor in round two.

They head into tomorrow hoping to take another Premier League scalp and they will be boosted by the news Wilder plans to rest some of his regular starting XI.

The Blades currently sit tenth in the Premier League table following a positive start to the campaign and Wilder is conscious that league leaders Liverpool are in town on Saturday.

As a result, he confirmed to the media this afternoon that he will change things up with summer signings Phil Jagielka, Luke Freeman, Ravel Morrison and Ben Osborn among those likely to come into the starting XI.

“I have to make changes that benefit us not just for Wednesday night, but also medium and long term," Wilder told Sheffield United's official website.

"Players will want to do well tomorrow, there’s a chance for those who haven’t been playing regularly.

"It should mean a lot of any of our boys to pull on the shirt.

Should Sunderland win through tomorrow the draw for the fourth round will take place after MK Dons' clash with Liverpool on Sky Sports.
