Two boys, aged 13 and 14, died following an incident at the address, in the Shiregreen district of the south Yorkshire city, on Friday.

Four children - aged 11, 10, three and seven months - were rescued, and South Yorkshire Police said on Saturday afternoon that they had been released from hospital.

Detectives have given no indication about the nature of the incident, but have confirmed it was not a shooting and said it was confined to the property.

A police spokesman said detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

People living nearby saw more than a dozen police cars and four ambulances arrive on the tree-lined road, while an air ambulance landed in the grounds of Hartley Brook Primary Academy 100 metres from the scene.

Neighbour Aaron Brunskill said people came out into the street, adding: "The police weren't telling us anything.

"I know there's children there. I've just seen them walking back to the shops and that's all I know."
