Sheenagh Mason tributes after death of inspirational Belfast mum following tumour battle

Tributes have been paid to an inspirational West Belfast mum who died after a tumour battle.

Sheenagh Mason took a seizure in December 2016 and her world was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with a grade four brain tumour.

She then underwent a seven-and-a-half hour long operation in February 2017 and a biopsy showed the tumour was terminal.

She was initially given 12-18 months by doctors as she started chemotherapy and radiotherapy but proved medics wrong.

Sheenagh passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, at Lisburn’s Thompson House surrounded by her loved ones.

Her sister Jacqui shared the family's devastation on social media and paying tribute to her sister, said: "Sheenagh was the most inspirational, positive and bravest person we ever had the privilege of. May she rest in peace."

The community have rallied to support the grieving family and have paid tribute to Sheenagh who was described as "beautiful" and a "lovely girl".

During her battle, the community helped Sheenagh raise £15,000 for a specially adapted vehicle after treatment left her unable to walk.

At the time on her GoFundMe page, she wrote: "I would like to raise funds for a vehicle, so that I can live my last days out as an adventure, seeing places, going to Starbucks for a coffee, the things people take for granted.

"I would then like for the vehicle to be donated to Thompson House hospital so that other people that are in my situation can make the use of it."

Her funeral will take place on Friday, June 7, at St Paul’s Church for 1pm Requiem Mass continuing afterwards to Roselawn Crematorium.
