Sheds destroyed in playing field blaze

Two portable buildings were destroyed in a fire at a playing field in Wavertree.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service rushed to Olive Mount Playing Fields at around 8.07pm on Friday, May 13, following reports of a fire. Two fire engines arrived at the scene, the former Manweb Sports and Social Club, just five minutes later and found two wooden buildings well alight.

Crews worked for almost an hour to put out the fire using main and hose reel jets. The fire was extinguished by 8.42pm and crews left the scene at 9.05pm.
