'She will be sorely missed' tributes paid to 'talented' Scots lawyer after tragic sudden death

Heartfelt tributes have been paid to 'talented' Scots lawyer after her sudden death yesterday,

Mum-of-two Anne Duffy, 50, was a partner at Caird Vaughn Solicitors and was well respected in legal circles in Dundee.

We told how cops and paramedics were called to the scene on Thorter Row, next to the River Tay, in the City of Discovery at around 9am on Monday after the alarm was raised.

Police Scotland have confirmed that an investigation has been launched however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding Anne's death.

The law firm has now paid a touching tribute to the married mum.

In a statement to The Courier newspaper, they said: "We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our dear friend and colleague Anne Duffy.

“Our thoughts are with her family, especially Kevin, her husband, and her sons, Matthew and Luke.

“She was a talented lawyer with huge experience on both sides of the criminal bar.

“She brought intelligence, courage and good humour to every case she was involved in.

"Our grief is eased a little by the many messages of sympathy and support we have received from members of the court community in Dundee, the nearby courts and all over Scotland as well as from many clients and others who knew her.

"She will be sorely missed.”

Sister in law Jane Duffy shared the article on Facebook, adding: "A lovely tribute to my sister in law. RIP Annie xx"

One person commented: "Oh my god I’m so so sorry to read this , I didn’t know Anne but she was so loved by Kevin .. so sad for all of you."

Another added: "Oh my god! I’m shocked to read this and so upset! Jane I’m so sorry. Annie was my neighbour for a while. Such a lovely funny lady. Sending so much love to you guys, especially Kevin and the boys."

A Police spokesman told the Record: "A force spokesperson said: “Officers were called to an address in Thorter Row in Dundee at around 9am on Monday June 28 following the sudden death of a 50-year-old woman.

“The death is being treated as unexplained, but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
