She started with just a bucket and mop and now Rachael Flanagan is creating more than 130 jobs

Cleaning business Mrs Buckét  Commercial, which was founded by Rachael Flanagan 15 years ago as a teenager armed with just a bucket and mop, is creating more than 130 new jobs.

Ms Flanagan, 32, began the business in Pontarddulais, by cleaning her parents' home before moving on to her gran's. With the help of  £20 spent on promotional flyers her clients started to grow and she has never looked backed.

Now the business has commercial client across South Wales and the South West of England, and is confident of reaching a £8m turnover by 2025, having generated £2.6m last year.

With its headquarters in Swansea, it is looking to create more than 130 new jobs this year, to add to its existing workforce of 250.

Managing director and mother of two, Mrs Flanagan, said: "We’ve set out ambitious plans for this year and beyond. New services, customer growth and acquisitions will contribute to our 2025 target of £8m turnover.

"A recruitment drive is essential to support the company’s expansion plans.

“Mrs Buckét is more than a cleaning business and I’m passionate about challenging the perception of the industry.

"We’re investing in technology innovations, a new fleet of vans and operating efficiencies this year to ensure our clients and team get the best experience possible.”

Last year the business  sold its domestic arm to focus solely on commercial clients.

It also acquired new HQ premises in Swansea , installed a new management board and increased head office roles by 27%.

Recent contract wins include Cardiff Bay-based Active Quote, Mountain Ash-based Flexicare and Bristol-based Swaglelok.

Other clients include Audi, Circle IT and Welsh language channel S4C.

Claire Storer, talent and retention manager, said: "We are looking for top-class recruits that want to be part of a growing business and be proud to represent what we are achieving.

"We have big plans for 2020 and we are looking forward to welcoming new members of the team to help take the business forward. I would encourage local people to keep an eye out for recruitment opportunities.”

It main areas of recruitment will be across Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff, Newport and Bristol.

Roles include commercial cleaners, cleaning supervisors and mobile supervisors.

Training will be provided for new recruits through the Mrs Buckét Cleaning Academy.

Mrs Buckét was recently awarded FairPlay Employer status by  gender equality charity, Chwarae Teg.
