‘She started feeling woozy’: Woman gets into an Uber. Then she notices the driver cover his mouth as mist comes from the console

In a viral video, a man issues a warning about riding in Ubers after a woman’s harrowing experience.

TikToker The_Journey76 (@the_journey76) says he heard the story of a woman who got into an Uber alone after leaving her friends at a bar.

“She sees a little mist coming up from the console and the driver covers his mouth,” he says. He claims the woman found it “weird,” held her breath, and got out while the driver was making a rolling stop. “She opened the door to get out, and she took a small breath, and within like five seconds she started feeling woozy.”

He continues, “She was convinced that, had she not been paying attention, she would have been trafficked.”

When did this Uber horror story supposedly happen?

He seems to be referencing a Jan. 18 TikTok that Mia Hart (@miahartounian) posted, which has since been reposted on TikTok and Instagram. However, Hart says she was leaving a coffee shop, not a bar.

In the comments section of The_Journey76’s video, viewers suggested people stop taking Ubers.

User Lori Raybine wrote, “It’s time to go back to regular taxi companies ! Hiring backround checks ect !”

“Do not ride with strangers,” user Sally Barkley said.

“Never use a uber,” another viewer said.

Has this happened before?

The_Journey76 says, “This is happening all over the place,” and it’s not just women being affected; it’s young men too.

The Mary Sue found instances of Uber drivers spraying substances on passengers, but neither of the substances was a drug intended to incapacitate the passenger to eventually traffic them.

The first instance involves a driver who sprayed “a stream of irritant chemical agent – consistent with self-defense spray – into the victim’s eyes,” after the driver asked the passengers to leave his car and an argument ensued.

The second is one involving a Miami passenger who says their driver sprayed an aerosol can that covered the back seat in a thick cloud as she reached her destination. She says she ran out of the car as fast as she could but she thinks the substance “ended up just being a really thick air freshener.”

The Mary Sue contacted The_Journey76 and Mia Hart via TikTok direct message and comment. It contacted Uber via email for more information.
