‘She’s swimming in CACA’: Influencer goes for swim off coast of Cape Town but viewers are more concerned about what’s in the water with her

Nothing beats a cool dip in the water during the height of Summer. But swimmers have to be careful out there as the ocean hides all sorts of terrifying things within, from man-eating sharks to man-made sharts (if you don’t know what that is don’t look it up,) the ocean truly is a scary place. One woman on TikTok found that out the hard way.

South African TikToker Michelle Sky has made headlines across the globe for all the wrong reasons. The influencer decided to record herself taking a dip in the waters off the coast of Cape Town earlier this month. In the clip we can see just how foamy the sea around her is, it’s also suspiciously brown.

Viewers were quick to point out that Michelle was likely swimming in sewage that had probably been pumped into the water prior to her getting in. One person commented “I hope she knows that foam is from a nearby sewer pipe,” while another simply wrote, “She’s swimming in CACA.”

Poop is gross, (yeah duh) but the idea of touching poop and having it all over your body is truly a nightmare. Knowing what’s in the water makes the video a rather difficult watch as Michelle takes a handful of foam and blows it towards the camera. At another point in a separate clip an unexpected wave hits Michelle in the face and she accidentally swallows a bit of the water, she remarks, “that is salty.”

Michelle responds to the TikTok comments

This is probably the last thing you’d want to be informed of after going for a swim, but someone had to break the bad news to her. Luckily Michelle took it in her stride, joking about her mishap with her followers. When various news outlets caught wind of the story she made another TikTok, joking in the caption: “she doesn;t know it yet but she’s about to make international headlines.”

I guess there are worse things to make headlines for, although this is definitely still near the bottom of the list.

Is she okay?

Naturally you’d think that swimming in water filled with feces would have some adverse effects on ones health, however, when asked if she got sick after her dip, Michelle claimed that she did not get sick and that she actually felt better afterwards.

“If anything maybe it even boosted my immune system, because I’ve been feeling great ever since so who knows?”

Some viewers speculated that it wasn’t sewage but rather decaying sea life “such as algae, plankton, and seaweed,” which is slightly less concerning than literal poop, but only slightly. Whatever it was Michelle will probably be a bit more wary of the water around her in future, but then again, considering the alleged health benefits she felt maybe she won’t.
