‘She’s going to walk’: Supreme Court to rule on Ghislaine Maxwell release, considering overturning conviction

You have to look hard for any silver lining in the Jeffrey Epstein case. Epstein himself escaped accountability through death, his clients and financial backers remain concealed, and his many crimes are being swept under the rug by powerful people.

Even so, at least we could be thankful that his right-hand woman, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted of child sex trafficking and tossed behind bars for two decades.

Well, in proof that nothing good can ever happen, Maxwell is now eyeing freedom just three years into her sentence. Her path out of prison is fairly clear: Donald Trump is desperate to sweep the entire Epstein situation under the rug, Maxwell can be pressured to ‘exonerate’ him, and in return, she’ll either get her conviction overturned or a full presidential pardon.

Even for Trump, a pardon might be going too far, but the Supreme Court is now taking the first steps to free her. Their case rests on the 2007 plea deal Epstein reached with South Florida prosecutors in which they agreed not to charge any of his accomplices. Her lawyers say: “‘This case is about what the government promised, not what Epstein did.”

Maxwell has every reason to feel confident as she’s now playing ball with Trump’s Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in a series of private conversations about her future. The exact topics are unknown, but Republican Rep. Tim Burchett gave the game away in comments last week.

He confirmed that their “leverage” against her is reducing her sentence, saying that the “one thing we’ve got holding over her head is that if she lies she goes back to her original sentence, and that’s looking at lifetime, and if she’s looking at maybe parlaying this into reducing her sentence then we could have some leverage there.”

Would MAGA just swallow this?

The Trump administration going through with this and releasing Maxwell, who not only procured underage girls for Epstein but also directly participated in the abuse, would be a political atom bomb. Even Trump’s most die-hard MAGA supporters would find it hard to stomach a grinning Maxwell escaping justice, even if her “testimony” got Trump out of a tricky political situation.

Then again, Trump doesn’t have to worry about re-election, has the Republican Party curled around his little finger, and faces no serious opposition from Democrats. Why shouldn’t he do whatever he wants, even if it would tank his approval ratings for a few weeks?

Let’s face it, a couple of months of blanket right-wing propaganda that, actually, Ghislaine Maxwell is a true MAGA patriot, and they’d all line up behind her to cheer her on. All of which means we’re nervously awaiting the (Trump-controlled) Supreme Court ruling and can only echo the mood online that she’s likely to walk.
