‘She engineered it all’: Late Queen saw through Meghan’s façade and tried to warn a ‘besotted and weak’ Prince Harry

What goes on between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle behind closed doors has long been speculated by followers of the royal family. One individual who was in a unique position to make a somewhat accurate assessment on how the couple operated was the late Queen Elizabeth II, and let me tell you, she was not kind.

The new information regarding the Queen’s opinions of Meghan and Harry’s relationship come from royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith who cited the Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Lady Elizabeth Anson. According to her, the late monarch was concerned about Meghan’s apparent assertiveness coupled with Harry’s apparent weakness, especially when it came to the women in his life.

Her majesty grew suspicious early on

Lady Anson, who was very close with her cousin, stated that the former Suits star had initially made a great first impression on the monarch back in 2017 as she was described as “full of charm,” “natural,” and “intelligent.” However, Anson claims that Meghan’s demeanor soon changed as she became more controlling.

Tensions allegedly began as far back as 2018, during the run up to Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding which even included an incident where Harry was apparently rude to the Queen for 10 minutes. The Queen had supposedly felt left out of the wedding plans which led to a rather tense meeting in February of that year.

Bedell Smith claims that in her final weeks the Queen had described the entire situation as a “complete catastrophe.” A close source within the royal household said that the comment was out of character but that the Queen “saw straight through Meghan.” The insider went on to say that the Queen seemed “regretful about how things had panned out.”

The Queen suspected Meghan of manipulating Harry

A couple of weeks before Harry and Meghan’s wedding, Anson told Bedell Smith about a conversation she had had with The Queen (whom she refers to as Jemima). She was apparently very worried about her grandson, she even expressed doubts over whether or not Meghan truly loved Harry, or if the whole thing had been engineered by her.

“My Jemima is very worried. Harry is besotted and weak about women. We hope, but don’t quite think she is in love. We think she engineered it all.”

Clearly the Queen held some strong suspicions about Meghan’s character, something which Harry seemed unaware of. The disagreements between the Prince and his grandmother led to a strained relationship between the pair. Her concerns related to how she viewed Harry as “neither bright nor strong, and she is both,” meaning Meghan could very well take advantage.

Harry and Meghan’s separation from the royal family and subsequent alienation from them may have proven the Queen’s concerns to be true. Sources suggest that a key factor in leaving the firm was to make money, could Meghan have simply been using Harry as a stepping stone this whole time?
