The Newcastle Herald has gone one-on-one with the Jets A-league Women's squad as they launched their season to find out more about each footballer.
Norwegian signing Marie Dolvik Markussen came off the bench in the 66th minute of Newcastle's opening round 3-1 loss to Sydney at Netstrata Jubilee Oval on Saturday.
Fans will be keen to see more of the exciting attacking player when Newcastle returns home to host newcomers Wellington Phoenix at McDonald Jones Stadium this Friday in the first match of a Jets double-header.
Dolvik Markussen delivers an X factor for the Jets as they push for a return to finals football and told the Herald she was keen to "score some goals and be a positive input for the team".
Jets coach Ash Wilson expects the 24-year-old to add "more threat" up front with attacking flair, experience and an arsenal of wonder strikes at her disposal. She has three caps for her country and joined the Jets after helping Valerenga win the Norway Women's Cup.
"She looks like a player who is going to be able cause a bit of damage in this league and that's what I'm expecting her to do," Wilson said.

NH: How old were you when you first started playing?
MDK: Six or seven. My brother played, so I just went with him.
NH: What do you do off the field?
MDK: In Norway I've been working a little bit to do other things as well. Working with kids a little bit as a substitute teacher. I've also been tattooing a little bit. I tattoo myself and other people, friends. I have maybe 250. I'm going all in until there's no skin left. The inspiration is ideas in my head. Also referring to family and my friends and the life of 24 until now.

MDK: I wear my AirPods and I listen to ASAP Rocky.
NH: What television series, if any, are you addicted to?
MDK: I really like Prison Break and New Girl.
NH: What can't you live without?
MDK: My family.
NH: Do you have any pre-match habits?
MDK: Not really. Maybe I'll dink a ball around and just listen to some rap music and try to relax.
