A woman has gone viral after sharing her boyfriend’s baby’s gender reveal on TikTok. The twist? She isn’t the mother. In the viral clip, a woman can be seen standing beside a man as confetti cannons are set off. As the cannons explode in pink, confirming the gender, the woman appears overwhelmed while the rest of the people rejoice.
The video is accompanied by an on-screen caption reading: “POV: I broke up with my man for 2 months and he went on a side quest to become a dad so now I get to help him raise a sweet baby girl.”
Commenters were unimpressed
However, commenters didn’t see this video in the wholesome way it was perhaps intended to be seen.
“May this love never find me,” one quipped. “If someone called my baby a ‘side quest baby,’ I’d go straight to jail,” another added. “This is so disrespectful.”
While a third proclaimed, “Girl. YOU are the side quest. That is the mother of his child, that THEY will raise together. If you’re lucky, she might allow you to be part of her life. It’s not up to you. Take a couple seats.”
The video has amassed 16.4 million views.

The mother weighed in
As the backlash mounted, the mother of the child, Kelci LaBruzzo, shared her own thoughts in a TikTok of her own. In a lengthy on-screen caption, she wrote: “You think you can hurt me? I invited my bd’s girlfriend to my gender reveal, that I was already terrified of having due to judgement. Now every stranger on the internet thinks I’m a one night stand, when he is actually a fling back from 2022. We have a past, and she is very aware of that. Now she’s making money off of me and my ‘little side quest baby.’ I barely post on social media. Now my life is viral off of something I didn’t even post. Quite the embarrassment over here, can’t just grow my child in peace.”
The original TikToker attempted damage control
This clip drove more traffic to Allen’s original video, which spurred her to make a follow-up video addressing viewers’ concerns.
In the clip, she insisted that, contrary to viewers’ beliefs, she wasn’t cheated on. However, she did note that when they got back together, neither of them knew that she was pregnant—so, when they found out, Allen admitted that, initially, she was “disappointed.”
Nonetheless, she shared that she has three kids herself that her boyfriend “accepts,” and says that she’s confident in his ability to be a good father. As a final note, she said she had her tubes tied, and reiterated she was actually excited for the baby shower and even got to pull a confetti cannon.
Allen and LaBruzzo didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment.

Yet, this wasn’t enough to stop the hate, so, in a final follow-up, Allen said via on-screen text: “For what it’s worth… I only posted the gender reveal video AFTER everyone who was there was posting it already on Snapchat and Facebook… and I also apologized to her on a phone call about the initial video as I would NEVER want a mother to feel any less. I have no ill intentions and I was just generally happy and excited to be able to support both of them in any ways they needed. All love over here.”
