Shay Logan has poked fun at the first pictures of Scott Brown in an Aberdeen shirt, joking "you can't polish a turd."
Brown joined the Dons from Celtic on a free transfer in the summer, linking up with ex-Hibs teammate Stephen Glass as a player-coach.
The move had been common knowledge virtually ever since Glass took over, but the first images of Brown sporting the red shirt still caught a few off-guard.
Promoting the launch of their new home kit, Aberdeen shared snaps on Twitter with a familiar face modelling the new top.
And it wasn't long before Logan - an old rival of Brown's - popped up in the replies.
The club posted an image of Brown wearing their new home shirt with the caption "Brown is red."
And Logan, who made 294 appearances for the Dons, replied: "What's the saying, you can't polish a turd."
His cutting jibe was then punctuated by turd and cry-laughing emojis, just for good measure.
Logan's comments sparked fury and hilarity in equal measure and he followed it up with a series of tweets, one reading: "Relax it's a little banter people, I love the Dons."
He told one fan criticising him to "get a neck" and another that it "looks like his head needs a polish".
Logan is yet to find a new club after leaving Aberdeen in the summer, and currently runs a plumbing and heating company outside of football.
