Shawn Mendes has thrilled fans by dropping news of his new single and a brand new album – while also confirming things are still very much ‘on’ for him and girlfriend Camila Cabello.
The 22-year-old Canadian singer took to social media on Wednesday to reveal fans are just hours away from hearing his new music – and with a new album to follow a couple of weeks later.
The star announced he is dropping a new tune called Wonder this Friday – while an album of the same name is due to be release don 4 December.
While rumours of a split between him and 23-year-old Camila were also taken out in the process as she was the first to praise his new music.
Releasing a teaser for his new single, as well as album artwork, Shawn wrote of his new music: “it really feels like a piece of me has been written down on paper and recorded into song.
“I tried to be as real and as honest as I’ve ever been.
“It’s a world and a journey and a dream and an album I’ve been wanting to make for a really long time.”
While Camila – who has been in the UK filming a new version of Cinderella – declared her love for Shawn as she paid tribute to him on Instagram.
She wrote: “the world could use some magic, beauty, and Wonder always, but especially right now.
“@shawnmendes what a gorgeous gift to the world. He’s crafted this album with every last bit of his soul, his spirit, and his essence with the purest of intentions.
“My love, I’m so proud of the person you are and I’m so excited for people to see and hear your heart.”
Shawn himself responded to Camila’s post with a red heart emoji.
Some fans had feared the couple – who are famous for their very public displays of affection - haven’t been spotted together in recent weeks.
Camila is in the UK filming a new version of Cinderella directed by Blockers director Kay Cannon and co-starring Billy Porter, Idina Menzel, Pierce Brosnan, Beverley Knight and James Corden.
Fans of Shawn were thrilled to hear he is releasing new music – and to see him and Camila being affectionate via Instagram.
One fan gushed: Sweet coulee. I hope you two get married in the future.”
While another fan – one John Mayer, no less – wrote of Shawn’s imminent new music release: “This is all very exciting.”
